After the whole Cobra-La incident Taurus decided he needed to clear his head. The thought of snake men was enough to drive him crazy. He started to wonder if joining G.I. Joe was really better than the life he left behind. He explained all this to his superiors and only one understood. Sgt. Slaughter, having had the most contact with Taurus than any of the other officers, understood him and the gentle man underneath the rough exterior. The generals would not grant Taurus a leave. Taurus went AWOL after the Sarge promised he would help however he could.
After the reinstatement of G.I. Joe, Sarge was able to get the brass to greenlight a new chapter of Slaughter's Marauders. They are sent in deep into enemy territories even before the rest of the Joe team is sent in. In the same vein as the old Renegades, the government denies all existence of this group.

When the Sarge received the call one day from Taurus he could hear the pain in his voice. It seems even after all the years, Taurus was still haunted by the thoughts of the snake men. Sarge persuaded him to meet with him. Sarge told him he needed to confront his fears and he knew the perfect place to do that. After a very long conversation, Taurus agreed to join with Sarge on the Marauders. Sarge was able to get him in on the Marauders without even the Joe brass knowing.
Taurus is now a little more mentally unstable but he has now sworn his allegiance to Sarge and as long as Sarge is there to support him he will do anything he is asked. And fighting the "snakes" of Cobra keeps his mind off of those horrible nightmares from so many years ago.
